I walk the line

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

The other day I was at a store, and I asked folks if I could interview them.

One guy said he didn’t have time because he needed to drive to Century 21 across the street.

‘Across the street?’  I pointed.  ‘Over there?’

‘Yes,’ he said.

‘If I walk with you, will you interview?’

‘I’ll see you there,’ he said.  ‘Yes.’

I walked across the street, avoiding traffic.  He drove across and met me there.

‘The only reason I’m doing this is because you crossed a four-lane highway to talk with me,’ he said.

Four-lane highway?  Really?  I hadn’t noticed.

‘I really want to hear what you have to say,’ I said.

It was definitely worth it.
